1. Introduction & Our Privacy Philosophy
Welcome to pdfriend.in. We believe that privacy is not a feature, but a fundamental human right—especially when handling sensitive financial, medical, and personal documents. Unlike traditional online converters that upload your confidential files to cloud servers, pdfriend.in is engineered from the ground up to operate 100% locally inside your browser. This policy details how our client-side technology works, how optional local storage works, and how your privacy is guaranteed.
2. Client-Side Technical Safeguards
Browser-Native Processing: Heavy PDF operations (Merge, Compress, Split, Crop, Rotate, Extract) execute locally using compiled WebAssembly (WASM) and JavaScript on your hardware.
Zero Server Uploads: Selected files are converted into local browser memory Blobs that never cross a network socket to any remote server.
Encrypted SSL Connection: Your connection to pdfriend.in is encrypted end-to-end via HTTPS/SSL.
No Server Database: We do not operate any backend file servers or databases to store user document content or document metadata.
3. Local "My Files" Library & 15-Day Auto-Expiry
PDFriend features a WordPress-like My Files document library that lets you seamlessly reuse selected and processed documents across tools (Merge, Compress, Split, Rotate, etc.) without picking them again.
Before saving any file locally for reusability, PDFriend displays an explicit consent popup. You can choose to allow local saving or opt for single-use memory processing. You can toggle this setting ON or OFF anytime via the Save files locally switch in My Files or tool dropzones.
All files saved in your local browser library (`pdfriend-files` IndexedDB) are automatically purged after 15 days of inactivity. Stored documents reside strictly inside your local browser memory on your current device and can be permanently wiped anytime using the Clear All Files button.
4. Analytics & Cookies
Minimal Analytics
We do not use any behavioral keyloggers, screen recording, or session replay tools. We measure aggregate usage metrics (page views, tool selection counts) to improve performance.
Analytics tools cannot read, view, or access the contents or metadata of the documents you process locally.
Advertising & Third-Party Cookies
Google AdSense may place cookies to serve non-intrusive advertisements based on visits to web properties. You can manage or disable personalized advertising by adjusting your Google Ad Settings.
Automated Technical Error Telemetry
To immediately detect and resolve client-side execution bugs (such as WebAssembly crashes, PDF.js worker mismatches, or browser compatibility errors), our application automatically logs technical exception diagnostics to Google Analytics.
Strict Privacy Guarantee: Error reports contain strictly technical data (error message, script line number, and browser URL). They never include file contents, personal documents, user inputs, or identifiable data.
5. Your Control Over Data
Clear Browser Storage: You can clear your browser cookies and site data at any time to remove all saved preferences and local IndexedDB records.
Incognito Mode: Use pdfriend.in in Private/Incognito browsing mode for transient processing that automatically clears upon tab closure.
